Volunteers & Committees

Why we love our volunteers

KidSafe’s volunteers bring a wealth of professional experience, new ideas and energy to the lives of our kids, our programs and to our special events. They are also wonderful ambassadors in the community, helping to generate awareness of our goals, programs and needs.

Our volunteers work in many areas of KidSafe to add to the quality and delivery of our programs and the efficiency of our operations. Many of our KidSafe programs and field outings depend on unique sets of volunteer skills to be successful – gardening, music talents, dance skills, kayaking expertise, etc. Events such as the KidSafe Annual Golf Tournament could not run without the dedication and event planning expertise of the volunteers that turn out year after year for this event.

Our committee members – providing a little help from our friends in the community
KidSafe also has a number of committees that are fueled by volunteers. Each committee has its own area of responsibilities. We try hard to map our volunteer’s areas of interest and skill sets to each committee’s focus:

  • Programming Committee – program planning development and support
  • Fundraising/Revenue Development Committee – individual, corporate, and government funding opportunities
  • Marketing and Communications – marketing, communications, social media and special event planning
  • Finance Committee – accounting and finance
  • Human Resources Committee – personal growth, people development and hiring

KidSafe’s peer to peer program – a way for kids to help kids
In addition to its volunteer and committee programs, KidSafe has established peer to peer partnerships with West Point Grey Academy and York House schools.  Students over the age of 16 can become involved in tutoring, mentoring and program development as a part of their guidance studies.

We are always looking for KidSafe volunteers who:

  • are committed to the vision of KidSafe
  • are at least 18 years old
  • are willing to provide a police record check
  • can provide two references; and
  • have skills aligned with our programming and committee needs.

If you are interested in volunteering, or would like to speak with someone about volunteering for a specific program, event or the possibility of joining a KidSafe committee, contact us at info@kidsafe.ca or phone the KidSafe office at: 604-713-4467
