Dania Barakat

Director of Programs

Dania joined the KidSafe team in Spring 2021. Within the first few days of being here, she knew she had found her dream job.

Dania is passionate about collaborating with others to drive positive social change within her community. Prior to joining the KidSafe team, she worked at various non-profit organizations and child-care centres in Vancouver, including Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon, Junior Diabetes Research Foundation, and The Arts Connection, where she managed programming, operations, staffing, and volunteers.

Drawn to KidSafe's mission of providing safe spaces for kids, she now manages the incredible seasonal site staff teams as Manager of Recruitment and Training, ensuring staff are well-supported to deliver the KidSafe mission and provide the best possible experience for the children we serve.

Dania has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and has also completed extensive training in Trauma-Informed Practice, Infant and Child Development, Migrant Systems Change, Child & Youth Care and is trained in all HIGH-FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development offerings. She is also KidSafe's in-house trainer for HIGH-FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development.

Dania’s favourite part of working at KidSafe is the bonds she builds with both the staff and the kids. You can often find her on-site, playing games or crafting with the kids - which she describes as “the best part of the job”.

Outside of work, Dania enjoys volunteering her time with MinervaBC in their Making Space for Youth Leadership Program, reading, spending time with friends and family, and exploring everything that Vancouver has to offer!
