Thank you for making the holiday season safe💗

This Winter season, the community went above and beyond for KidSafe’s 30th Anniversary Match. While we set an initial goal of raising “$100K by Christmas Day”, the community came together and exceeded our expectations—we raised $133,689! This was made possible thanks to a group of generous donors who matched the community’s donations.

KidSafe continues to provide free break time and afterschool programs to the children and families we serve. Our programs and services address the gaps for those who need it most. 

In 2023, many families found themselves facing rapidly increasing costs of household essentials (BC Poverty Reduction Coalition, 2023). In BC, a shocking 31.9% of food bank visits were made by children (Food Banks Canada 2023). Among rising costs, inflation, and other barriers exacerbated by post-COVID-19 conditions, many underserved populations have severely limited access to necessities and support. More than ever, families across Vancouver are stretched thin. In response, KidSafe provides enrichment, food security and a safe place to go for up to 800 children and youth. We could not achieve this without the support of our community, volunteers and funders.

As we enter 2024, we are dedicated to upholding our mission. KidSafe believes in a city where all children and youth feel seen and heard, and have a place to thrive. At Kidsafe, we continue to meet the dire need for wraparound services for the kids and families who need it most.
