KidSafe Celebrates its 30th Anniversary with Science World’s Rainbow Light Display

Vancouver, BC - December 20, 2023

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of KidSafe, a local charity whose mission is to provide a nurturing, safe place for up to 800 elementary students in Vancouver. Dedicated to providing a safe space for children who need it most, KidSafe has captured the attention and admiration of the community since 1993.

Science World is set to light up on December 20, 2023, on KidSafe’s milestone anniversary.

Adding to the excitement, KidSafe has launched a match donation campaign, aiming to raise $100,000 by Christmas Day. The funds will empower KidSafe to ensure children can access quality support and educational opportunities. Donations will be matched by the KidSafe Board of Directors and other generous major donors of up to $50,000.

In a heartwarming gesture of solidarity, Science World is set to illuminate the night sky with a vibrant rainbow light display on December 20th, honouring the exceptional work of KidSafe and its 30th anniversary. Science World's kaleidoscopic transformation is a visual representation of KidSafe's ongoing efforts to create a nurturing environment for children facing multiple barriers. The iconic display will serve as a beacon of hope and encouragement for the charity and the children it serves.

"Science World's rainbow light display is not just a spectacle; it's a symbol of unity and shared commitment to the well-being of our community's future generations," said Jennifer Petersen, Executive Director of KidSafe

Local businesses, philanthropists, and individuals are encouraged to participate in KidSafe’s match donation campaign, doubling the impact of their contributions and helping the charity reach its ambitious goal of $100,000 by Christmas Day. Every dollar raised will directly contribute to fostering a safe and nurturing environment for children who need it most. Donations will provide educational programming, field trips, nutritious meals, unlimited snacks, and a safe space for kids to play.

Additional information about the match donation campaign, programs, and other ways to get involved, can be found here.

About KidSafe

KidSafe is a local charity committed to providing a nurturing environment for children who need it most. For 30 years, KidSafe has been filling the acute gap after school and when schools are closed for winter, spring and summer breaks. The children we care for at KidSafe have been referred to us by third-party professionals, such as school principals and child support workers, as a child most in need of a safe and free place to be when schools are closed.
